BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College track and field program will host Lees-McRae's Alonzo Clark Memorial Track and Field Invitational on March 13 with all proceeds going to the Alonzo Clark Memorial Fund.
The meet is held in honor of former Bobcat track athlete Alonzo Clark, who passed away this October from injuries suffered in a single-car crash.
"We are excited to host such an event, and it is a real honor to host it in Alonzo's name, Athletic Director Craig McPhail said. "Alonzo was a valued member of the Bobcat family, and we know he will be watching Saturday."
There are six teams and over 100 athletes competing in the meet. Lees-McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne, Montreat, Limestone, Milligan and Brevard are the six teams competing.
The event will be held at Lees-McRae's Arthur, Lauritsen and Sanderson Track and Field Venue, which is an eight-lane track and field facility with lights 4,000ft above sea level. The meet will be scored by Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) system, which is a TFRRS certified timing results system.
