BANNER ELK, N.C. - Anderson's Lauren Sloan took won the Field Athlete of the Year Award and Limestone's Anisha Barbee as the Saints won the 2010 Conference Carolinas Women's Track and Field Championship for the second consecutive year that earned head coach Kevin Vees Coach of the Year.
Sloan took home the Field Athlete of the Year award by sweeping the two throwing events on day two. She won the shot put with a distance of 12.29m and won the discus with a distance of 38.49m. She finished second in the javelin with a distance of 40.26m and second in the javelin with a distance of 33.62m on day one of the meet.
Barbee took home Track Athlete of the by winning the 100m dash with a time of 12.36, winning the 200m dash with a time of 24.82, finishing second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.04, leading off the 4x100m relay team that won the event and leading off the 4x400m relay team that finished first. She earned a total of 28 points in the meet. Barbee's 100m time, 200m time and 4x100m relay time were new meet records.
Mount Olive's Domonica Coleman won the triple jump and high jump with distances of 11.00m and 5.24m respectively.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Ashton Sellers pulled out a six hundredths of a second win over Jenny Altieri. Sellers finished with a time of 16.29 to edge out Altieri, who ran a 16.37.
Vees earned Coach of the Year as the Saints repeated as Conference Carolinas Champions. Limestone's 196 points gave them a 60 point margin over Anderson, who finished in second with 139 points. Lees-McRae finished in third with 113 points followed by Queens with 77 points, Mount Olive 57 points, Belmont Abbey with 19 points and St. Andrews with 10 points.
