ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) and Crystal Bass (Branford, Fla.) each set a new school record to pace the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team on the first day of the Asics Classic, hosted by Winthrop University.
Curry broke her own mark, which she set last weekend at Wake Forest University's Wake Forest Invitational, with a third-place mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump. In the hammer throw, Bass surpassed Jamara Cook's (Claremont, N.C.) school record of 37.77 meters, which Cook set at Wake Forest last weekend as well, with a mark of 38.14 meters en route to a sixth-place showing. Bass also tied for 10th in the shot put with toss of an even 10 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday on the second and final day of the Asics Classic on the Winthrop campus.
