BOONE, N.C. --- Sophomore Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) paced the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team to a solid season-opening performance at the 2011 Appalachian State University Invitational Indoor Track Meet on Saturday.
Curry opened the season with a 13th-place performance in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.53 meters. Persephanie Mcrae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also finished 20th in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters.
Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.) and Kayla Frazier (Chesterfield, S.C.) placed 18th and 20th in the shot put with marks of 10.42 and 9.73 meters, respectively, as Genay Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) finished 23rd with a throw of 9.26 meters. Miller also placed15th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.44 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on January 14, 2012 when the Bobcats travel to Boone, N.C. to take part in ASU's App Open.
