Lees-McRae closes out weekend at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- The Lees-McRae College women's track and field team closed out a strong performance at East Tennessee State University's Niswonger Invitational on Saturday, a day after Iesha Poindexter (Jetterville, Va.) set a new program record in the 60-meter dash.

Genay Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) placed 28th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.19 meters, while Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W.Va.) finished 30th in the one-mile run with a time of 5:49.47. Crystal Fischer (Greer, S.C.) also finished 39th in the one-mile run with a time of 6:03.44.

Poindexter finished 23rd in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 8.16 seconds, while Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) placed 16th in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 1:00.42. Sophomore Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) finished 10th in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, February 4 when the Bobcats travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to participate in the Kent Taylor Indoor Invitational.
