LMC Track & Field Fares Well in Split Squad Weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C. & KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Three Lees-McRae track & field school records fell at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. and the team recorded 10 top-10 finishes at the Aggie Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. while LMC split their track & field squads over the weekend.

Sea Ray Relays
Freshman Kyandra Anderson (College Park, Ga.) continued her impressive first-year campaign by setting a school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.39 seconds. The freshman would later break the 200-meter record with a time of 25.35.

Sophomore Erin Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) set a school record in 100-meter hurdles with a sparkling time of 14.49.

On the men’s side, freshman Gabriel Blackmon (Aiken, S.C.) posted a personal-best mark in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.89. He would grab 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time 48.54.

Sophomore Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) set a personal record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.70.

LMC’s 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay squads earned top-10 finishes. The quartet of Blackmon, Tyree Reed (Phenix City, Ala.), Matthew Darden (Columbus, N.C.) and Christian Parker (Richmond, Va.) claimed seventh in the 4x100 with a time of 42.08.

Blackmon, Reed, Parker and Davante Scott (Hopkins, S.C.) placed eighth in the 4x400 with a mark of 3:17.04.

Aggie Invitational
Sophomore Tyler Pauley (Independence, Va.) impressed with a fifth-place finish in the steeplechase after turning in a time of 10:39.52.

Junior Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.) finished seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.90 meters.

Sophomore Joshua Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) swiped sixth in the javelin with a distance of 43.49 meters. Godwin claimed 10th in the shot put with a heave of 12.96 meters.

LMC’s Jessica Hattabaugh (Hamilton, Mass.) chucked the javelin 26.93 meters, giving her a 10th-place finish.

Freshman Najah Underwood (Hendersonville, N.C.) leapt a 9.81 meters in the triple jump to earn 10th.

Mekayla Boswell (Mocksville, N.C.) enjoyed a third-place result when she posted 1.55 meters in the high jump.

Freshman Chloe Maddox (Helen, Ga.) finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 2.10 meters.

Sophomore Kayla Powell (Moyock, N.C.) finished 10th in the shot put after throwing for a distance of 11.34 meters.

The Bobcats will take two weeks off before hosting the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Banner Elk, N.C. April 24-25.
