CLEMSON, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College track & field programs wrapped up the first day of the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships Friday afternoon. Overall, the Bobcats had three athletes qualify for the finals of their respective events for Saturday, and three more notched top five finishes in events that wrapped up Friday.
Senior Mekayla Boswell was LMC's lone conference champion Friday as the Mocksville, N.C. native won the high jump with a leap of 1.64m. Boswell won the high jump during the indoor season and last year's outdoor championships as well.
Jennifer Johnson (Long Jump) and Kendall Isler (High Jump) both finished third in their respective events, while Rishad Felton (6th – Long Jump), Kaitlyn Gearing (8th – Javelin), Lane Graves (10th – 10000m Run) and Jamie Colon (10th – 10000m Run) all notched top 10 marks as well.
As mentioned earlier, the Bobcats also had three athletes qualify for the final heat of their respective events. Erin Bingham (100m Hurdles) and Cody McNeely (800m Run) not only qualified but ran the fastest times in the qualifying rounds with times of 14.59 and 1:55.72, respectively. The final qualifier for LMC was Kaitlyn Gearing who earned a spot in 400m Hurdles finals with a time of 1:10.55.
