BOONE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College track and field programs wrapped up the Appalachian State Open with an impressive showing. The Bobcats notched 11 top 10 finishes on the two days, including six top five nods. As a their respective teams, the men's squad finished ninth among 13 institutions, while the women's team wrapped up the weekend 11th out of 14 teams.
LMC's top finish on the weekend came from sophomore Luke Rochester. Rochester finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.12m. Rochester's mark was the second-highest for the sophomore this season.
The men's team also added three top five finishes from its 4x400m relay team, Jalen Martin in the long jump and Austin Thompson in the 5000m run. The relay squad and Martin both finished fourth in their events, while Thompson was fifth among that field.
The women's team also notched a pair of fifth place finishes during the meet with senior Kaitlyn Gearing finishing fifth in the high jump and Rebeckah Goras matching Gearing with a fifth place nod in the triple jump.

The Bobcats will return to action next Sunday when they compete at the JDL Collegiate Dual Meet. The meet will take place in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the JDL Fast Track.
