Track and Field returns to Johnson City this weekend for ETSU Open

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's and women's track and field teams will compete in Johnson City, Tenn. for the second time this season on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 1-2) at the ETSU Open. Live stats will be available at

 Event Preview - The running events begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 1) with the prelims of the women's 60-meter hurdles, while the first field event is the men's weight throw that takes place at 11 a.m. On Saturday (Feb. 1), the women's 3,000 meter run will start things off at 9 a.m., and the first field event will be the women's shot put at 10 a.m.

Last Time Out - The teams last competed at the Wake Forest Invitational back on Jan. 19 in Winston-Salem against a field featuring some other schools in the Southeast region as well as some Division I competition. Dylan Williams took 28th in the second round of the 60-meter dash as the lone Bobcat in the event, with a time of 7.58 seconds. Nolan Capps was the only Bobcat in the 3,000-meter run, finishing 22nd in 9:32.94. Joshua Hall posted a 10th-place finish in 2:01.63 in the 800-meter dash, while Andrew Garrett Ybarra finished 14th in 2:03.81. Corimonte Eatmon also finished 35th in the 800 in 2:16.02. Williams was the top Bobcat finisher in the 200-meter dash taking 34th in 25.15 seconds, while Alexander Tricot finished 45th in 25.01 seconds and Logan Styers finished 47th in 27.32 seconds. Tristan Bertie took 26th in the mile run in 4:38.97, while Aiden Hall finished 41st in 4:58.43. Moving on to the field events, Alex Heck was the top Lees-McRae finisher in the shot put with a 19th place finish and a mark of 10.12 meters. Styers also finished 23rd in the long jump with a distance of 4.23 meters. Blake Radder was the top Bobcat finisher in the weight throw with a 14th place finish and a mark of 10.71 meters, while Heck finished 19th with a throw of 7.46 meters.

Brittney Augustin took 29th in the second round of the 60-meter dash, with a time of 8.53 seconds. Kaela Kelly took 37th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 3:09.96, while Tahlia Schreiber finished 40th in 3:18.64. Natalie Donahue also finished 52nd in the 200-meter dash in 31.93 seconds. Jordyn Halvorsen also finished 34th in the mile run in 6:30.32.

Up Next - The teams will head back to Winston-Salem, N.C. for their next competition on Feb. 7 at the JDL Fast Track Team Challenge.
