Men turn in solid night, Wood breaks weight throw record again at JDL Fast Track Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's and women's track and field teams were back in action on Thursday (Feb. 7) at the JDL Fast Track Team Challenge. The men posted several solid results, while the third school record of the season fell for the women's team.

Men - Nolan Capps finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:12.43, while Quinn Reeves took 14th in 10:14.00 and Brett Page finished 15th in 10:33.12. Logan Welton (23rd, 7.79 seconds) and Logan Styers (24th, 7.90 seconds) finished back-to-back in the 60-meter dash, while Dylan Williams took 17th in the 400-meter dash in 55.73 seconds. Joshua Hall (2:00.72) and Anton Ledell (2:01.28) also finished fifth and sixth in the 800, while Andrew Garrett Ybarra took ninth in 2:03.97. Welton (25.87 seconds), Alexander Tricot (26.34 seconds) and Styers (27.13 seconds) took 21st through 23rd respectively in the 200-meter dash. Tristan Bertie notched a third-place finish in the one-mile run 4:32.63, while the quartet of Jason Saintizaire, Hall, Ledell and Ybarra finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:32.60. Saintizaire would log a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.90 meters, while Cooper Abernathy placed 13th in the weight throw at 11.05 meters.  

Women - Maegan Prettyman finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run in 14:04.87, while Kaela Kelly finished 18th in the 800-meter run in 3:10.07. Brittney Augustin finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.10, while Millie McCoy finished 16th in 1:07.44. Augustin also notched a 10th-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 26.90 seconds, while McCoy finished 18th in 29.31 seconds. Brianne Heard finished 12th in the one-mile run in 5:56.74, while Sarah Bowman finished 18th in 6:08.15 and Jordyn Halvorsen finished 20th in 6:21.61. Madison Cantrell would place seventh in the pole vault with a height of 2.85 meters. Bayle Wood placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 13.43 meters, re-breaking the school indoor record that she set last week at the ETSU Open. This becomes the third indoor record broken by the women's team this season. Mya Roberts also placed 12th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.50 meters, while Sariah Dempaire-Salomon finished 17th with a throw of 11.09 meters.

Up Next - The teams will be back in Winston-Salem on Sunday, Feb. 17 for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships.
