After winning the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association Welcome Back Tournament this past weekend with a 3-0 record, five members of the Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore setter Trisha Reese started all 13 games over the weekend setting a new career high for assists with 57 in the Lady Bobcats second game of the weekend against East Stroudsburg. Reese came close to tying her new career high with 55 assists against UNC-Pembroke and started the weekend with a 30 assist performance in a three game set against Concordia (NY). The Hanover, PA native also chipped in ten service aces over the weekend.
An All-CVAC Honorable Mention a year ago, senior Caty Honey garnered All Tournament honors after hitting .317 over the weekend and adding 25 kills. The Geneva, IL native started all 13 games and committed only five errors while also picking up seven block assists.
Daviana Metti also had an impressive weekend offensively putting down a team high 55 kills. The Cordoba, Argentina native hit .293 over 12 games and set a new career high with 27 kills against East Stroudsburg while registering four service aces, four solo blocks and four block assists.
Freshman Kell Bogdan earned All Tournament honors in her first collegiate weekend. The Leawood, KS native was a force in the backcourt for the Lady Bobcats in the 13 games she played registering 21 digs.
Despite playing in only seven games due to injury, libero Dani Usedom's prowess in the backcourt earned the senior All Tournament honors after the Geneva, IL native registered 19 digs.
The Lady Bobcats will open their Conference Carolinas schedule
Wednesday August 29th when they host Pfeiffer University at
Williams Gymnasium. Game time is slated for 7:00pm.
