The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats got back into the win column
Wednesday evening, hosting Conference Carolinas foe Converse
College, beating the All Stars in three straight, (32-30, 30-17,
30-18). The Lady Bobcats improve to 5-4, (2-0 Conference
Carolinas) while Converse falls to 0-6, (0-1 Conference
In game one, the visitors battled the Lady Bobcats to the final
two points before the home side would squeeze out the two point
win. Sophomore setter Trisha Reese (Hanover, PA) went down early
in game one with a knee injury, giving freshman Kell Bogdan
(Leawood, KS) the reins at the net. As the Lady Bobcats accustomed
themselves to the "new" setter, the offense began to click, as the
home side cruised to victories in games two and three, hitting .471
and .462 as a team respectively.
Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) led the Lady Bobcats
with nine kills while also serving up a pair of service aces.
Classmate Caty Honey (Geneva, IL) hit .571, posting eight kills
while freshman Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) hit .556 with
five kills. Katie Marie Legg (Alta Loma, CA) dominated the net for
the Lady Bobcats posting four solo blocks and a pair of block
assists. Metti also contributed with a strong game at the net with
three solos and an assist.
As a team the Lady Bobcats hit .321, with Bogdan (pictured top
left) registering 19 assists.
Up next, the Lady Bobcats will participate in their third
tournament of the season, hosting the Carolina Challenge September
7-8th. The Lady Bobcats will battle Edinboro, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars
Hill and Clarion.
