HARTSVILLE, SC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats dropped just their third of twelve Conference Carolinas matches to Coker College Friday evening, 3-1. The Lady Bobcats overall record now stands at 15-11, while the Cobras improve to 12-13, (9-4 Conference Carolinas).
The Lady Bobcats fell behind in the match early and were unable to recover completely. After an 8-1 Coker run to start game one, the Lady Bobcats managed to claw their way back into things and take a 28-21 lead. The resilient Cobras, looking to upset the nine-time defending conference champions, managed to battle back and tie things up at 29. After a seesaw affair for the next ten points, the home side emerged with a 35-33 win to take the 1-0 lead. The Lady Bobcats would manage to take game two 30-25; however the home side rebounded with the momentum from game one to take games two and three 30-20, and 30-10.
Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) and Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) would pace the Lady Bobcats with seven kills each, while Caty Honey (Geneva, IL) contributed a handful. Tracey Copley (Virginia Beach, VA) picked up ten digs while Metti and Dani Usesdom (Geneva, IL) each registered nine. Setter Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, NV) led the Lady Bobcats with team highs in assists with 30, as well as digs with 12.
Megan Haupt led the Cobras with a double-double, compiling 20
kills and 17 digs in the match, while Margaret Madison had 16 kills
