Schneider Named Men's and Women's Volleyball Assistant
BANNER ELK, N.C. - Head men's and women's volleyball coach Jamie Petrik has announced the addition of Wes Schneider to the 2009 staff.
"Wes, in just one week of time, has made a strong impression on
our team with his knowledge of the game," head coach Jamie Petrik
said. "He will certainly push our teams to excel at the highest
level we can."
Schneider spent two seasons under Jon Stevenson in 2007-2008 at Cal Poly. Prior to his stint at Cal Poly Schneider was the men's and women's head coach at Hope International University (NAIA). While at Hope International, his men's team set the school record for wins by going 15-7 and reaching a No. 7 in the final AVCA rankings in 2006. Prior to being the school's head coach, Schneider spent five seasons as the assistant coach.
Schneider started at Golden West Junior College as a player before transferring to Loyola Marymount. While at Loyola, he averaged 4.30 kills per game and had 205 digs in his first season. In his senior year he averaged 3.70 kills per game and had 196 digs.
"We are excited to have Wes join the Bobcat family," Athletic Director Craig McPhail said. "His knowledge and passion for the sport of volleyball will be great for our current student-athletes, but also those who will be coming to Banner Elk in the future."
Schneider resides in Banner Elk with his Wife, Nicole, and two daughters Mia and Allie.
