HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Senior middle blocker
Whitney Justice (Connelly Springs, N.C.) has been named the
Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the
first time this season, announced league officials Tuesday. Justice
paced the Lady Bobcats to a 3-0 worksheet in conference play last
week, averaging 2.5 kills and posting a sterling .429 hitting
percentage against Erskine, Limestone and Converse.
The 6-1middle blocker has been on a tear of late, posting a
hitting percentage of at least .550 in four of her last five
matches. Against Erskine, Justice recorded six kills on 10 swings
as the Lady Bobcats swept the Flying Fleet to take over the
conference lead. The reigning conference player of the year then
notched 12 kills against Limestone on Friday, and followed with
seven kills on 12 swings against Converse on Saturday.
Lees-McRae has rebounded from a slow start to the season by
winning eight of its last 10 matches, including six straight in
conference play to enter the lead at the top of the league
standings with a 6-0 mark in conference action.
The Lady Bobcats return to the court on Wednesday when they
travel to Belmont, N.C. for a 7 p.m. matchup with Belmont Abbey
College to continue their conference schedule.
