HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Senior middle blocker Whitney Justice (Connelly Springs, N.C.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time this season, announced league officials Tuesday. Justice paced the Lady Bobcats to a 3-0 worksheet in conference play last week, averaging 2.5 kills and posting a sterling .429 hitting percentage against Erskine, Limestone and Converse.
The 6-1middle blocker has been on a tear of late, posting a hitting percentage of at least .550 in four of her last five matches. Against Erskine, Justice recorded six kills on 10 swings as the Lady Bobcats swept the Flying Fleet to take over the conference lead. The reigning conference player of the year then notched 12 kills against Limestone on Friday, and followed with seven kills on 12 swings against Converse on Saturday.
Lees-McRae has rebounded from a slow start to the season by winning eight of its last 10 matches, including six straight in conference play to enter the lead at the top of the league standings with a 6-0 mark in conference action.
The Lady Bobcats return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to Belmont, N.C. for a 7 p.m. matchup with Belmont Abbey College to continue their conference schedule.
