INDIANAPOLIS --- Sophomore setter Megan Mitchell (Minden, Nev.) is ranked among the nation's leaders in assists per set, and the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team is listed in four team categories in this week's edition of the NCAA Division II women's volleyball statistics, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.
Lees-McRae (12-6, 10-0 CC) is riding a nine-match winning streak after registering a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday night. The Lady Bobcats have also won ten straight matches in Conference Carolinas play to open their league schedule, while entering the week ranked 58th in the nation in team hitting percentage (.221). Lees-McRae is also ranked 68th in assists per set (11.58), 81st in winning percentage (0.647), and 94th kills per set (12.13).
Mitchell has been a tremendous part of the Lady Bobcats' success of late, averaging 10.75 assists per set in the last 10 matches to jump to 50th in the nation in helpers per set (9.85) entering the week. The 5-9 setter posted one of the best performances of her career on Tuesday night against Pfeiffer, recording a career-high 55 assists as three Lady Bobcats tallied at least 15 kills in the come-from-behind victory.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Friday when the Lady Bobcats travel to Gaffney, S.C. for a 7 p.m. conference matchup against Limestone College.
