HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College middle blocker Whitney Justice (Connelly Springs, N.C.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced league officials Tuesday. It also marks the third straight week a Lady Bobcat has garnered conference player of the week honors.
Justice recorded two of the best performances of her career at Pfeiffer and Limestone, leading the Lady Bobcats to a pair of four-set victories to mark Lees-McRae's fourth straight undefeated week in conference play. The 6-1 senior averaged an impressive five kills per set to pace the Lady Bobcats, while recording a sweltering .547 hitting percentage.
The 2009 AVCA NCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention selection played one of the best matches of her career on Tuesday against Pfeiffer, recording a career-high 24 kills and posting a scorching .639 hitting percentage. She followed that with a solid showing against Limestone on Friday, posting a match-high 16 kills to go with a .429 hitting percentage to lead the Lady Bobcats. Justice currently leads the team and the conference with a .366 hitting percentage.
The Lady Bobcats (13-6, 11-0 CC) have been on a tear of late, entering the week riding a 10-match winning streak while emerging victorious from 13 of its last 15 contests. Lees-McRae has also won 25 consecutive matches in conference play, including the first 11 contests on its league schedule this season.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Saturday, Oct. 16 when the Lady Bobcats host Erskine College in a conference matchup at 11 a.m. The Lady Bobcats will also square off with Tusculum College later in the afternoon, taking on the Pioneers at 3 p.m. Both matches will be played in Williams Gymnasium.
