HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Three student-athletes from the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team have been named to the 2010 Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Team, announced league officials Friday.
Seniors Whitney Justice (Connelly Springs, N.C.) and Taylor Stice (Franklin, Tenn.), along with junior Megan Epperson (St. John, Ind.), were each named to the Academic All-Conference Team in recognition of their outstanding work in the classroom.
Justice, the reigning conference player of the year, has put together another outstanding season for the Lady Bobcats, entering the stretch run leading the league with a superb .364 hitting percentage. The 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American middle blocker has averaged at least three kills per set in each of the last two seasons, including a career-high 3.12 average this fall.
Stice is in the midst of her best season with the Lady Bobcats, entering Saturday's matchup with Coker less than five points away from eclipsing her career-high of 151 markers during her sophomore campaign. The senior right-side is currently putting up career-highs in kills per set, hitting percentage, digs, and blocks.
Epperson has emerged as one of the top outside hitters in the conference this season, entering the weekend second in the league in kills per set (3.39) to go along with a career-high hitting percentage for the Lady Bobcats. The 5-11 junior has posted at least 300 kills in each of the last two seasons, currently needing just 52 kills to eclipse the 1,000-kill plateau for her career.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Saturday when the Lady Bobcats host Coker College in their final home match of the regular season. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m. following the conclusion of LMC's Senior Day festivities.
