Bobcats ranked eighth in NCAA Southeast Region
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team is ranked eighth in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, fresh off its completion of the second undefeated season in Conference Carolinas history, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.
Top-seeded Lees-McRae (23-7) continued its impressive play on Tuesday night, rolling past eighth-seeded Mount Olive College in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament to extend its winning streak to seven matches. The Bobcats posted a sterling 18-0 record against league opponents this season, capturing the program's 12th conference championship in the last 13 years.
Wingate University (25-1) continues to hold the top spot in the region, followed by Flagler College (24-7), Tusculum College (23-5), Lincoln Memorial University (22-6), and University of Montevallo (22-11). Carson-Newman College (15-9) is sixth, followed by Catawba College (14-12), Lees-McRae, Anderson College (17-14), and Armstrong Atlantic State University (18-12).
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Friday when the top-seeded Bobcats host fourth-seeded Queens University of Charlotte in the semifinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The match is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
