BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team picked up its second straight sweep Friday as it knocked off Mount Olive, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18). The victory marked LMC's tenth of the season and improves its record in Conference Carolinas action to 6-7.
Set 1 – Johnaliz Cotte spearheaded LMC's defense which held Mount Olive to a .097 hitting percentage en route to a 25-19 set victory. Cotte had eight of her 10 digs in the opening frame. Set 2 – The Trojans struggled mightily with attack errors in the second with nine in the frame. Haylee Leonard tallied three block assists to go along with four of her seven kills in the second to help give the Bobcats a 25-20 win in the second set.
Set 3 – Lees-McRae put together its best offensive set in the match as it hit .289 as a team with 15 kills on 38 attempts. Four different players for LMC had at least three kills, including Zangari who led the team with four. Madison Martin paced the Bobcats' defense in the frame with seven digs in the final set.
Next up – The Bobcats will look to maintain their stellar play Saturday when they take on league-leading Barton at noon. The Bulldogs knocked off LMC earlier this season in Banner Elk by a 3-0 final tally.
