GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team fell in four sets to Limestone College (25-23, 25-15, 14-25, 27-25) Friday night in Gaffney, S.C. The loss moves LMC's record to 5-16 overall and 2-9 in league play.

1ST Set: It looked like the Bobcats would run away and hide in the opening frame Friday. LMC scored the first five points of the frame to force Limestone to take an early timeout. Following the timeout by the Saints, the Bobcats extended their lead to 10-1. Limestone, however, started to get things rolling after that. The Saints came all the way back to tie the score at 12-12. Both teams exchanged leads until the latter stages of the frame. It was then that the Saints went on a 5-3 run to down the Bobcats in the first, 25-23.

2nd Set: The second frame started out very competitive between the Bobcats and Saints. With the score knotted at 10-10, however, Limestone went on a 10-3 run to open up a seven-point lead on LMC, 20-13. That deficit proved too much for Lees-McRae to overcome as he Saints went on to win the frame, 25-15, to go up 2-0 after two.

3rd Set: Needing to win to keep the match alive, the Bobcats came out with their best performance of the tilt in the third. LMC opened a 14-10 on the Saints before going on a 7-0 run to grow the advantage to 11 points at 21-10. Lees-McRae went on to win the third set, 25-14.

4th Set: After dropping the third set, Limestone came out in the fourth and jumped on the Bobcats early. The Saints opened an eight-point lead on LMC at 10-2. Lees-McRae, however, would battle back to tie the score at 17-17. Much like in the first set, the two teams battled with the lead to round out the frame. Caitlyn Smirne notched a kill to make it 25-24 Bobcats, but the Saints score three straight points to finish off the match, 27-25.

Stat Standouts: Kaci Thornton paced Lees-McRae with 10 kills, three aces and 12 digs Friday. Senior Courtney Weathersbee also posted a double-double with team-highs in assists (20) and digs (16).

Next Up: The Bobcats will return to action Saturday afternoon when they take on Converse in another Conference Carolinas clash. First serve between the Bobcats and Valkyries is set for noon.
