    FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lees-McRae College women’s volleyball team gave the top seeded Emmanuel College Lions a scare in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament Tuesday night. LMC battled hard but fell in four sets to the Lions (25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18). Lees-McRae closes out its 2018 season with a record of 7-23.

    MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – After dropping the first two sets (25-21, 25-20) to Mount Olive, the Lees-McRae College women’s volleyball team rallied with two set victories of their own (26-24, 25-19) to force a fifth set in the team’s regular season finale. UMO, however, would win the fifth set, 15-9, to push LMC’s record to 7-22 overall and 3-11 in conference play.

LMC will begin the week by hosing King Tuesday night at Williams Gymnasium before heading out on the road to take on Barton on Friday and Mount Olive on Saturday. Tuesday’s and Friday’s matches are set for 7 p.m. first serves, while Saturday’s contest is set for a 3 p.m. start time.

Juniors Ellissa Small and Lexi Zangari were joined by Kaci Thornton as Bobcats that received this recognition.

The win, which is the team’s second straight, improves LMC’s record to 5-16 on the season.

LMC will open the week with a tilt against Belmont Abbey Tuesday before welcoming North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan to the High Country Friday and Saturday. Tuesday’s and Friday’s matches are slated for 7 p.m. first serves, while Saturday’s is set to begin at noon.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the Flying Fleet won the fourth set 25-22 to finish off the four-set win. With the loss, LMC moves to 3-13 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
