Women Finish Second at Stampede at the Shoals

Elizabethton, Tenn. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's cross country team got their 2009 season off to a good start with solid performances at the Stampede at the Shoals Invitational this past Friday.

The 4k loop for the women had the Bobcats sprinting from the start. Lees-McRae finished with 40 points behind one of the top NAIA teams in the country, Milligan.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was newcomer Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W. Va.), as she finished 3rd overall, and teammate Kira Shoemaker (Atlanta, Ga.) finished 5th. Danielle Lindquist (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished 9th rounding out the Lady Bobcats in the top ten.

"We got to see some good performances and figure out what we can be working on," head coach Cason said. "We have got some depth and want to continue to develop well into our championship season."

Up next for the Bobcats will be the Mountaineer Open, at The Greenway Fields in Boone, Friday, September 18th at 5 p.m.
