UNICOI, Tenn. --- Senior Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) led the Lees-McRae College women's cross country team to a season-opening fifth-place performance at the Buffalo Valley Stampede on Friday evening.
Host Milligan College claimed the top spot in the team standings with 20 points, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan (46), North Greenville University (63), Emory & Henry College (116), and Lees-McRae (155).
Peterson paced the Bobcats in 40th with a time of 25:29.47, as Sarah Monday (Lexington, N.C.) finished close behind in 42nd. Makayla Boswell (Mocksville, N.C.) made her collegiate debut in 44th, and was joined by Jessica Hattabaugh (Hamilton, Mass.) and Erin Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) in 45th and 46th, respectively.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, September 14 when the Bobcats travel to Asheville, N.C. to take part in the UNC Asheville Invitational.
