BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs will make a trip to Mount Olive, North Carolina Saturday to compete in the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships. The women's race is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 11 a.m.
About the Bobcats – The Bobcats have put together one of their best seasons in recent memory this fall. The men's squad has seen seven times from this season rank within the top 20 times in the history of the program. Senior Austin Thompson has logged three of these top times by himself with Tristin Bertie not far behind with a pair of times within the top 20. Joshua Hall and Anton Ledell also logged marks that put them on the top 20 list as well.
The women's team, meanwhile, has seen steady improvement over the course of the season. Six of the nine runners on LMC's roster have logged their best collegiate times this season. This group has been led by senior Jordyn Halvorsen who has notched the top time for Lees-McRae in each of the team's six races this fall.
Championship History – LMC's cross country programs boast a long history of success at conference championship races. Overall, the Bobcats have won 13 cross country conference championships with their last occurring in 2008.
