GREENEVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's tennis team was selected to finish seventh in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll the league office released on Friday. Furthermore, the trio of Patryk Garwacki, Jofre Tura-Campalans and Matthew Meluch were picked as players to watch for the team during the 2020 season.
Mount Olive (84 points) was picked to win the conference this spring followed by Limestone (83 points) and the duo of Belmont Abbey (71 points) and Barton (66 points). Following the top four teams, Emmanuel was up next in fifth with 58 points followed by North Greenville (39 points), Lees-McRae (38 points), Southern Wesleyan (37 points), King (34 points) and Chowan (30 points).
Gawacki has joined the Bobcats this season with three seasons of eligibility remaining. Garwacki played in four of the five matches so far and has went 2-2 in singles action and doubles play through the early going this season.
Tura-Campalans, meanwhile, is like Garwacki where he joined the team for this season. Tura-Campalans has enjoyed success through the team's first few matches during the fall with a 4-1 record in singles action. Tura-Campalans is originally from Barcelona, Spain.
Finally, Meluch is the lone Bobcat to watch that was with the team last season. As a sophomore last season, Meluch led the team with nine singles wins and earned five wins in doubles, which was also best on the team.
The Bobcats enter the spring portion of their schedule with a 3-2 record after knocking off Milligan earlier this month, 4-3. Lees-McRae's next match will be on February 4 when it hosts Catawba at 2 p.m.
